This is how we offer young people the best place to start

A summer job gives a young person their first experiences of working life. To ensure that every job found through Kesätyö.fi is the best place to start, employers commit to the following principles:

1. Clear and fair recruitment
The best place to start communicates clearly to applicants how the recruitment process proceeds. Every applicant receives a response – even if they are not selected.

2. An employment contract and clear job description
An employment contract is always made in writing. The job tasks correspond to the description in the summer job advertisement. In the best workplaces, duties, responsibilities, and expectations are clearly defined.

3. Good orientation and support
The young employee receives proper orientation and the support needed to succeed in their work. They receive respectful and encouraging feedback on their performance.

4. Equality and appreciation
The best place to start ensures that the young person is treated equally and is actively included as part of the work community.

5. Fair compensation
The young employee is paid a fair and reasonable wage based on the nature of the work and their experience.

6. Work certificate and feedback
At the end of employment, the young person receives a work certificate. A final discussion is held to celebrate successes and exchange constructive feedback.

Employers who commit to these principles can post their summer job opportunities free of charge on the Kesätyö.fi service and are granted the Best Place to Start label.
